Akhil grew up in Peel Region and knew from a young age that a career as a First Responder was what he would be aiming for. After successfully completing a diploma in Police Foundations, he was hired with Peel Regional Police in 2006
Having worked in a variety of units including time in Uniform Patrol, Neighbourhood Policing, Homicide and now in Public and Media Relations, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his interactions with the media and the community. Community is at the heart of everything that Akhil does and having the opportunity to engage with the public is what he thrives on.
With an active presence on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and now TikTok, he uses the platforms to proudly represent Peel Regional Police and share some of the amazing work performed on a daily basis by police officers, while incorporating some much needed humour.

In this session, Constable Akhil Mooken will help guide you into the platform and share what worked for him and for the organization, some of the issues we encountered in our early days, and how they continue to improve on the content they post. This session will also address some of the security concerns that have been discussed in various circles and what was learned that dispelled a lot of those concerns for them.
