Greetings from the Conference Chairman

And we are less than one month away from the Social Media Strategies Summit!

I am pleased and flattered that the folks at GSMI have asked me to chair this conference. Needless to say, I am excited and I am certain that the event is going to be a resounding success.

The byline nowadays has clearly and quickly moved from, “Is your company doing social media?” to “How is your company doing social media?” We are all aware of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and FourSquare, but with a dizzying array of additional platforms, applications, and technologies, how is the marketer to find the right mix, in order to provide value to his or her organization? The Social Media Strategies Summit will seek to explore these answers.

What struck me about the conference is that it is not structured as a pitchfest or sell-a-thon from vendors. While there is nothing wrong with learning about solutions from developers and providers who are on the cutting edge, I feel that the true value of the conference will be the ability for marketing practitioners to share best practices in a practical format, discussing what’s working, what’s not, and lessons learned. No one in social media today has all of the answers – we learn from one another day by day.

Please feel free to reach out to me before the conference with any suggestions, comments, thoughts, or ideas. Find me on Twitter, @JakeWengroff.

See you in San Francisco!

Jake
